Barcelona quer 6.000 bicicletas de livre serviço em 2008
A cidade de Barcelona poderá alcançar a meta de 6 000 bicicletas em regime de livre serviço já na Primavera de 2008, dado o sucesso do projecto «Bicing», implementado na cidade catalã em Março passado.
Segundo avançou este fim-de-semana o jornal Le Figaro, a edilidade da capital catalã pediu ao grupo norte-americano Clear Channel uma proposta para colocar milhares bicicletas e instalar 400 estações (terminais de recolha) até ao final do 1º trimestre do próximo ano.
De acordo com o jornal, a batalha pela dinamização da utilização da bicicleta nos moldes já implementados em cidades como Paris (pelo grupo JC Decaux) e agora em Barcelona, está a intensificar-se nas cidades europeias.
Em Barcelona, o serviço promovido pela municipalidade superou todas as expectativas. Em pouco mais de três meses, o Bicing conta já com 1 500 bicicletas de livre serviço e 90 mil utilizadores que pagam 24 euros anuais pelo serviço.
A Clear Channel Outdoor estreou-se na Europa com uma experiência na cidade francesa de Rennes, em 1998, estendendo depois o serviço a três cidades da Noruega e da Suécia.
Por seu Lado, a JC Decaux, líder mundial em equipamento urbano, oferece serviços semelhantes no Luxemburgo, Viena (Áustria), Gijón e Sevilha (Espanha), várias cidades francesas e em Bruxelas.
